OBJECTIVES

1. To reflect in real action the values and social concerns of KIU through CHDRs implementation of its culture and motto

2. To share to the community a body of information and skills to improve their quality of life

3. To disseminate to the secondary school teachers, students and parents knowledge and skills relevant and useful to their present way of life

4. To recognize/acknowledge the secondary schools for their assistance and efforts to KIUs education students on school practice

5. To expose the postgraduate students to quick innovative ways of gathering research data in the field

6. For the postgraduate students to share the knowledge and skills they learned at CHDR to the community

7. For the community to appreciate KIUs contribution to the academic arena

ANNOUNCES ITS

1ST ANNUAL SEARCH FOR THE BEST CHDR LECTURER 2012

CRITERIA

1. Full time lecturer of KIU teaching at CHDR in any academic rank.

2. Evaluated/rated excellent or very good by their respective students through evaluation of teaching performance as per records from KIUs Quality Assurance Unit and CHDR

3. Rated excellent or very good by the CHDR search team with invited in house members and external judges

4. No known record of unprofessional/unethical practice, no absences in lectures (within the 2012 academic year), no disciplinary case and no criminal act done etc.

5. With impressive personality, good interpersonal relationship and characteristics of a teacher/lecturer in terms of mastery of the subject matter, teaching strategies and people/student orientation

6. Known compliant to KIUs academic and administrative polices and procedures

N.B. Members of the CHDR search team and in house members are excluded from this contest.

MECHANICS

1. The CHDR search team composed of selected CHDR staff and invited in house members divided into 5 teams corresponding to the CHDR units (economics and management sciences; law; education, open and distance learning; applied sciences and technology, Ph.D. program) will visit and sit in the lectures anytime. Academic dossiers that will be observed to be with the lecturer are as follows: course files, course outline, students’ record of attendance and handouts.

2. After all procedures of selection are done, the lecturer who will be on the leading edge as best CHDR lecturer shall be further observed in his/her lectures by the external judges.

3. Final judging shall be a combined decision of the CHDR search team, invited in house members and external judges based on the above criteria.

IN THE 1ST ANNUAL RESEARCH PAPER CONTEST

December 11, 2012: Students with completed research from various KIU colleges /schools are invited

STAFF CATEGORY

December 12: Staff with completed research from various KIU colleges /schools are invited

REQUIREMENTS:

1. Empirical researches worth disseminating in the areas of information system, economics, management , sciences, education, business administration, public management, law; recent or within one to two years from the date the research was completed and had not been published yet in any local or international journals (printed or on line).

 

2. Collaborative empirical research is included.

3. Only one presenter is required even for collaborative research.

4. Four soft bound copies of complete study to be submitted to these offices at CHDR on or before October 17, 2012:

Staff research- Director, Institute of Research (Dr. Kabir Haruna)

Deputy Director, Institute of Research (Dr. Muhammad Kibuuka)

Students’ research- Deputy Principal, Students’ Research (Dr. Mike Conrad Mubaraka)

5. All presentations should be in power points with colored templates, minimal sound effects, attractive mobiles, font size from 24 and above.Content of the presentations: title of research, theory to which the study was based, salient points in the literature in 5 sentences, research objectives, methodology (design, population, sampling procedure, research instruments, data analysis), findings, conclusions, recommendations

Acceptance of entries will be announced/posted by CHDR on or before November 22, 2012.
