POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA IN COMPUTER SCIENCE

(PGDCS)

Preamble

This programme is designed to provide knowledge and skills in computing to University graduates of all disciplines. The programme mainly offers practical skills. Students can implement these skills in their respective areas of expertise.

Objectives of Programme

  • To train students in use of computer application packages needed for day-to-day office work.
  • To train students in basic programming skills and methodologies applicable in computer program design
  • For students to acquire computer networks operation principles and network implementation procedures
  • To offer students database design principles and programming needed in information processing.
  • To equip students with knowledge and skills in computer hardware and software
  • To train students in developing internet application software

Target population

Non-computing graduates from recognized Universities.

Admission requirements

Minimum requirement for admission is first degree from a recognized University

Duration

One year

Assessment and Examination

Progressive Assessment (Course work) carries 40%

End of semester Examination takes 60%

Pass mark is 60%
